Hemangioma - Tibia - MRI
  • Case ID: 148
  • Diagnosis: Hemangioma
  • Category: Bone Tumors
  • Category Type: Vascular
  • Category Sub Type: Benign
  • Location: Tibia
  • Age: 47
  • Sex: M
  • Treatment: Observation
  • Image ID: 1602
  • Image Type: MRI
  • Images relating to this case: 1600 , 1601 , 1602, 1603 , 1604 .

Axial T-2 weighted MRI study shows a high signal lesion displacing the entire posterior cortex of the tibia with invasion into the soft tissue of the deep posterior compartment of the leg, a distance of nearly 3-4 cm, which clearly demonstrates soft tissue involvement with the primary vascular tumor of bone. Note the characteristic serpinginous high and low signal features of the soft tissue component seen typically in soft tissue hemangiomas. After a soft tissue biopsy was performed and a benign diagnosis established, there was no need for surgical treatment or adjuvant therapy because of the asymptomatic nature of the process.
