Coronal T2-weighted image shows in excellent detail the large soft tissue mass outside the proximal femur, both medially and laterally, that is a mixture of high and low signal. There is medullary involvement from the head down to well below the lesser trochanter that could not be appreciated on routine radiographic examination.
