IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
On this intraoperative photograph taken at the time of a limited exposure of the cyst, note the two drill holes placed in the lateral cortex. Cortisone is being injected into the cystic area after it was aspirated of a clear, serous fluid thus firmly establishing the diagnosis of a benign solitary bone cyst. Currently, the technique used for injection of methylprednisolone is the percutaneous two needle technique where one needle is used to aspirate the fluid and the second needle is used to inject the methylprednisolone.
