On this CT scan, there is a transverse image of the involved lumbar vertebra showing in better detail the aneurysmal appearance of this lesion with a reactive shell in the area of the transverse process and pedicle on one side only. The lytic permeation into the posterolateral aspect of the vertebral body is characteristic of aneurysmal bone cyst in children or, perhaps, a giant cell tumor or osteoblastoma in a young adult age group.
