IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
AP radiograph of the pelvis of a 57-year-old patient with metastatic renal cell carcinoma shows a very large, lytic and aneurysmal destructive lesion of the iliac bone on the right side, just above the hip joint, with a very permeative base suggesting aggressive disease. In a younger patient, this would suggest the diagnosis of aneurysmal bone cyst or perhaps pseudotumor of hemophilia, but in an older patient, the more likely diagnosis would be an aneurysmal, lytic metastatic carcinoma such as thyroid or renal cell carcinoma which is the case here.
