IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
This axial T2-weighted image shows the high signal features of a fatty tumor just posterior to the medial septum. This tumor was widely resected and histologically the pathologist did find a few areas of low-grade but malignant lipoblasts to establish the diagnosis of a well-differentiated liposarcoma or atypical lipoma. The chance for local recurrence runs as high as 30-50% but no radiation therapy is indicated.
