IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
A 32-year-old man presented with symptoms of a painless mass just above his knee posteriorly. This sagittal T1-weighted MRI image shows a soft tissue abnormality that is a mixture of high and low signal. The higher signal suggests a fatty tumor such as a benign lipoma, however, the splotches of low signal strongly suggest the diagnosis of a low-grade myxoid-type liposarcoma.
