Surgical photograph taken at the time of the resection of the malignant schwannoma shows a large café-au-lait spot over the buttock area. The skin is hypertrophic and pendulous in nature because of the subadjacent plexiform neurofibroma that gives the clinical appearance of elephantiasis which has resulted in the term "elephant man" syndrome for this clinical complex.
