A 30-year-old female presented with a painful mass in the anterior compartment of her leg that initially was thought to be a traumatic myositis ossificans caused by an old injury to the area. This radiograph of the leg and ankle shows dystrophic calcification between the distal tibia and fibula, a pattern that is not typical for heterotopic ossification following a compartment syndrome or an injury to the area. In this age group it should suggest the diagnosis of a calcifying synovial sarcoma.
