IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
A surgical biopsy of the latissimus dorsi muscle was done and this low power photomicrograph shows mature cancellous woven bone formation within the muscle area with dense fibrotic tissue suggesting myositis ossificians of a traumatic nature. No neoplastic tissue is seen.
