This sagittal T1-weighted MRI shows extensive soft tissue synovial hypertrophy filling the entire suprapatellar pouch that accounts for the swelling in the anterior aspect of the knee. There is also low signal soft tissue abnormality in the popliteal space eroding slightly into the posterior aspect of the femoral condyles at the point of capsular attachment.
