IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
This low power photomicrograph shows large, pale-staining, fluffy histiocytes filling the background of the slide and the high profile eosinophilic-staining eosinophils with bi-lobed nuclei speckled throughout. This picture is quite diagnostic of eosinophilic granuloma or Langerhans histiocytosis. Following this curettement, the patient's pain subsided completely within a matter of one week. The lytic lesion went on to heal spontaneously without further adjuvant therapy and there has been no recurrence.
