IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
A 7-year-old girl had dull, aching pain in her thigh for two months. This AP radiograph shows diffuse permeative lytic changes in the upper diaphysis of the femur with circumferential periosteal new bone formation, similar to the onionskin appearance of a Ewing's sarcoma. A diagnostic curettage revealed this to be a monostotic eosinophilic granuloma. There was no recurrence after this simple treatment.
