A 65-year-old female presented with a very complex history of rheumatoid arthritis, treated in the past with steroids, and a total hip arthroplasty which became infected and the prosthesis removed. Because of long periods of bed confinement, she developed thrombophlebitis for which she was treated with Coumadin. Shortly afterward she developed severe pain in her pelvis. This AP radiograph taken at that time shows a very large lytic aneurysmal lesion involving the entire upper half of the right hemipelvis that has the radiographic appearance of metastatic thyroid carcinoma or renal cell carcinoma.
