Coronal T1-weighted MRI of the leg of a 47-year-old male with a soft tissue mass over the lateral aspect of his leg that had been present for many years but had recently become painful and increased in size. This image shows a very large low signal mass growing subcutaneously from the lateral aspect of the leg that on biopsy proved to be a malignant schwannoma arising from a pre-existing benign plexiform neurofibroma.
