IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
Sagittal T1-weighted MRI of the knee joint of a 34-year-old male who presented with symptoms of intermittent painful swelling of two years duration. There is a low signal enlargement of the synovial lining just behind and superior to the femoral condyles, as well as behind the tibial plateau area. There are some minor changes anterior to the tibial plateau as well. This was proven on biopsy to be pigmented villonodular synovitis.
